Alex Sundich_2016cAlex Sundich – Chairman

Alex Sundich has over 25 years experience in the financial services industry.  Alex worked with Goldman Sachs and Credit Suisse First Boston in New York and Australia as an investment banker providing M&A and debt/capital markets advice focusing on the mining industry.

From 2003 to 2008 he held senior management positions within the funds management industry and was a Non-Executive Director of Eastern Star Gas Limited until its acquisition by Santos Ltd for in excess of $1.2 billion in 2011.

Alex holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Sydney and a Master of Commerce from the University of New South Wales.  He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia. He is a Non-Executive Director of Petrel Energy Ltd (ASX: PRL), CFO of Burleson Energy, Non-Executive Director of Ellex Medical Lasers Ltd (ASX: ELX) and Managing Director of Bridge Street Capital Partners.

David Mendelawitz_2016cDavid Mendelawitz – Managing Director

David Mendelawitz has extensive international experience in exploration, mining and commerce.  His most recent role, prior to founding Cleveland, was as Head of Business Improvement at Fortescue Metals Group Ltd., in which he drove projects in iron ore exploration, project construction, mine and infrastructure optimisation and expansion planning.

During his 5 ½ years at Fortescue, David was initially the Exploration Manager for Eastern Tenements, overseeing field works which were part of the delineation of 2.8 billion tonnes of iron ore in 1 year.  He then became the Registered Manager of Mining during the trial mining operations as part of the $140 million feasibility study conducted over the project.

David has a track-record for success both as a geologist and in the corporate aspects of large minerals projects,as extensive experience in the underground and open pit mining and exploration across Australia, Papua New Guinea and the USA.

David was a founding director of venture capital and business advisory firm M Capital.

Rick Stroud_2016cRick Stroud – Non-Executive Director

Mr Rick Stroud is a mining engineer with over 40 years’ worldwide experience in the mining industry. He has had exposure to all facets of the industry, including both operations and corporate, open pit and underground, consulting and contracting.

Over the last 12 years Rick has held the positions of General Manager for P&H Minepro for WA, SA and South-East Asia; Manager Mining and Alternate Resident Manager for Argyle Diamonds; Group General Manager Engineering for Snowden Mining Consultants; and co-founder of Optiro Mining Consultants.

At Snowden, Rick project-managed the mining DFS for Fortescue Metals Group’s Cloudbreak Mine  and also performed reviews on hematite, magnetite, CIDs and detritals whilst in Belo Horizonte in Brazil. Rick has gold experience in Indonesia, West Papua, Australia, Africa, Mexico and Chile.

Previous directorships include Paget Gold Mining, International Brick and Tile and A1 Minerals Limited (now Stone Resources Australia Limited) from August. Rick is currently the Non-Executive Chairman of private company, Fodere Mining.

Glenn Simpson-2016cGlenn Simpson – Non-Executive Director

Mr Glenn Simpson is a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years’ worldwide experience. Commencing his career with Touché Ross & Co Perth, he moved to manage their Bougainville office before returning to Australia to commence public practice in his own right.

Glenn operated his practice in Perth and Kalgoorlie and over that time became very involved in mining and services to mining. He has been involved in corporate advisory, strategic planning and financial management of a wide range of clients Australia wide, over the last 25 years.

From 2001 to 2014 Glenn established and managed national broking and underwriting businesses, culminating in a trade sale of all of the underwriting businesses to a listed entity in 2013. Subsequent to the sale Glenn was retained to manage the financial affairs of the businesses post sale, until the end of 2014.

Glenn continues to consult to industry as Lawsons Commercial Services.
